Archway Dental Surgery makes patients smile with Invisalign in Cornwall!

When you have misaligned teeth, it may feel like you haven’t got a lot to smile about. Having a smile that’s not one an A-List celebrity sports, or even just what regular people have can lower your self-esteem. It can make you feel self-conscious about relaxing and doing what comes naturally to us ordinarily when we feel happy (or perhaps feel forced to do when we have a camera phone pointed in our direction) smile! Getting the issue sorted may also feel like a tall order if you’re no longer an adolescent and if you are one, you may not fancy having fixed visible braces either. Thankfully, here at Archway Dental Surgery, we have a discreet and convenient method for realigning your smile with Invisalign in Cornwall.invisalign-in-cornwall

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a system that utilises plastic aligners that are see-through, so when they are worn over the teeth, only your teeth should be visible. This is why the name echoes ‘invisible’! For teens, there is a special range and for everyone else with their adult teeth, the regular aligners will be used. They are custom-fitted to your mouth because we use iTero technology to scan your mouth to take the exact measurements we need to have your aligners made. From this scan, we can also show you a 3D animation of what your teeth will look like after treatment before you begin.

Once you have your aligners, you will get several sets to switch between on a weekly basis and then you will come to see us for a check up and to receive the next set of aligners. As you wear them, they apply gentle force to your teeth to move them into the desired position.

Why should I consider Invisalign?

Invisalign offers flexibility for you because the aligners may be removed for up to 2 hours a day. This means that you can take them out when you are eating and this allows you to also brush and floss as normal, avoiding any further issues with oral hygiene, which can sometimes occur with fixed braces. It also means that if you’re not in the mood and want a little respite from wearing them, you can have it! Furthermore, while you are wearing your aligners, nobody should realise that you are wearing them.

Another major benefit of Invisalign is the fact that the aligners are very difficult to break, unlike more traditional braces that have wires and brackets. The plastic is durable and hardwearing. They should also be comfortable to wear as they have been made bespoke for your mouth.

What sorts of issues can Invisalign treat?

Invisalign can be used for issues such as crossbites, under and overbites, crowded or gapped teeth. To find out if this is the right treatment for you, all you need to do is come and see our friendly and professional team at Archway Dental Surgery for an initial consultation and we will be able to discuss your treatment plan with you. In 6 to 18 months on average with Invisalign, you could be smiling like an A-lister too!
