The consultation
When you come to us at Archway Dental Surgery wanting Invisalign in Cornwall, the first thing we will do with you is have a consultation. This consultation is a vital step in the process, as it allows us to get all the information we need to thoroughly plan your treatment. It also allows you to ask us any questions you may have so that you’re fully knowledgeable and comfortable with what will happen.
To determine whether this treatment is right for you, we will first carry out a case assessment. This is simply a series of photos that show the different types of teeth imperfections that can be treated, and if your teeth are similar to any of the images, we know that we can help you.
The next step will be to take x-rays, photos, videos and/or a dental impression of your teeth so that the treatment is as personalised to you as possible. We can then use these to create a digital treatment plan that is customised for your teeth. We use 3D imaging technology that enables us to show you how your teeth will move throughout the treatment, as well as what the result should look like.
The treatment
Your scans and images from the consultation will be sent off to aid in the creation of your custom aligners. These aligners are made out of a clear, plastic material and will fit your teeth very well, meaning they will be barely visible when worn. We will provide you with multiple aligners, and each one will be different, which is the underlying principle of how the aligners will move your teeth over time.
You must wear each aligner for around 2 weeks before moving on to the next one, and you can do all this in the comfort of your own home. This is great if you have a busy schedule and don’t have time for constant dental appointments with us. You will be able to see your teeth getting straighter over time, which is really exciting.
The aligners are fully and easily removable, which means no fixed appliances and no food restrictions. This is great as it also means the aligners are easy to change by yourself and keep clean.
During your treatment with Invisalign in Cornwall, which can take anywhere from 6 to 18 months to complete, you will only need to visit us every 6 to 8 weeks for a checkup. During this appointment, we will make sure that the aligners are doing what they’re supposed to and provide you with more if and when needed.
After the treatment

A retainer is a dental appliance that is usually worn at night, and it stops your teeth from moving back to their old position, which can happen naturally. We can provide you with a custom-made retainer to ensure that your new smile stays put.
